26-Sep-2009 -- We love to geocache when we have a vacation, so seeing that there is a geocache right in our hometown that is near a degree confluence, we decided to attempt this endeavor. Trying to figure the best way to seek this area out, we rode down the Marsh Road and decided that the other way in from Route 15 right be better. We ended up parking in the Central High School parking lot and walking through the fields on the ATV/snowmobile trail. First mistake was not to keep following these trails and we attempted to go straight to the area. The powerline is WET with areas that feel like quicksand when your foot goes into them (especially since you are carrying your puppy!!). Then there was the bushwacking through the small trees. We did get the GPS to N45.00.003 W69.00.009 but the reflection made it so the cellphone camera shot did not come out. Also, we enjoyed the geocache that was placed near this area. We hope to do more of these near confluences. We had better luck leaving the area. We went through the woods where it was better walking and ended up on the ATV/Snowmobile trail in a potato field. We walked along this and crossing the powerline swamp was much easier- it is all graveled!! It was an easy walk to the parking lot. Our little 9 month old Westie thought this was a lot of fun but it sure tired her out!!
