04-Jan-2009 -- This is the 52nd of a series of 83 confluence visits during our voyage from Nigeria to Europe and back to Nigeria around the entire African continent. It all started on 28 January 2008 at 11N 5E.

Story continues from 12N 39E.

More than a week ago we started from Yabēlo to visit the Lower Omo Valley, hosting some of Africa's most fascinating ethnic groups. After driving several kilometres we realised that we were bypassing a Confluence by 6 km. However there was no time and we continued to the Omo Valley, visiting some of the ethnic groups like the Mursi with their mind-blowing lip plates, the Hamer, Karo, Banna, and many more tribes in the area.

One the way back to Yabēlo we had some spare time and we decided to give it a try to visit this Confluence. We found a suitable path which lead us as close as 1200 meters to the Confluence. As always in Ethiopia we did not have to wait long till we were surrounded by the locals. We parked the car and walked with some locals to the Confluence. They all were very curios what we were doing, but the language barrier did not allow for any questions.
