(visited by Gordon Spence and Pete Moore)

01-Dec-2008 -- The day dawns white outside, there is a very hard frost and it is snowing lightly. I had mentioned to Pete yesterday that we were only about 1/2 hour from this point, he suggested we should nip out there straight after breakfast!

So, a full English breakfast and on the road for 8am. Head out of the city and along the A69, the scenery is wonderful in the cold crisp air. We peel off the A69, passing underneath it and loop around to the right.

As we drive along single track roads we notice some have tractor tracks, others we are the first along that day. We approach the point from the North, swing into the left and park up.

I'd left my boots in the car overnight and being wet from yesterday they had frozen and the laces were solid. Get them on somehow, through the gate and in the crisp fresh air - another way of saying it was bitterly freezing cold - we head towards the point.

the views were wonderful and a real contrast with my last visit in June. Compare these shots. My fingers soon stiffened up and as I had forgotten a hat it was take the photo's and get back to the car.

What a great way to start the day.
