25-Oct-2008 -- Continued from 38S-142E.

Leaving Robe early, we headed out on the Old Naracoorte Road that I knew from previous experience would take us very close to this confluence. Turning on to Woolmit Road, we soon arrived at the spot where I knew would be the closest point to reach this confluence, requiring a 420 metre very easy walk. You may ask how I knew all this if I had not logged this confluence before. The simple answer is that we had recorded this confluence successfully on Sunday 19th October 2008 and when we reached Mount Gambier at the end of the day, I was horrified to discover that the memory card in my camera was faulty and I had lost over 100 pictures that I had taken during that day.

Today was also a change in the weather compared to the last week. During the previous week, we had perfect weather in the low teens with today forecast being in the high 30’S. At 10.30am the temperature was up to 29°C and windy, so we headed straight to the spot and again took the required pictures, this time on a card that was not faulty. Like other reports have mentioned, even though this is a very easy confluence to reach when the paddock is dry, it would be a very wet walk during winter when the paddock is covered in water.

When we walked back to the car, I made sure that the pictures were all OK, as I did not want to have to return a third time to record this confluence. With still rising outside temperatures, it was time to head north and log our final confluence visit for the week.
