16-Oct-2008 -- It couldn’t be any other way; living near a confluence and not visiting it is something that I can’t do. So, after having read the narrative of its discovery and seen in my GPS paths for easy approach to 32S 64W, I decided to go for it after work, although dusk was very near. I strictly followed the indications from the GPS along Pilar, the old 9 Route, Laguna Larga, Manfredi and Oncativo city until a dusty and bumpy road that led me to the 64 meridian, where another path along it, pointed directly to the confluence point…

But, like it always happen, the easy becomes difficult: at least, this path required a 4WD car and I didn’t have it, if not considering that a precarious fence must be opened. I was only at 7 km from the confluence.

With the sun hiding in the horizon, the sky covered by dark clouds and without an alternative plan due to lack of study of the zone, I almost gave up.

Then I began the return by the same path thinking to attempt another day because the alternative showed in the GPS implied a big loop incompatible with the light required for the pictures.

Nevertheless, a path north to south unknown to the GPS could be a shortcut that would allow me to reach the objective so I followed it although my car wasn’t the best option for this kind of roads. Near the 32 parallel, another path at right pointed to the confluence and I turned on it. I passed near a house where some dogs barked, but human beings were not visible, and finally, the path became blurred: it was a risk to follow with my car. I returned by my footprints and when I passed again by the house, there was a peasant with a shotgun, to whom I greeted very friendly without stopping….

Hopeless, I took back to the south by the previous north-south path considering my “return without glory” but after a few kilometers, I found the connection with another GPS’s alternative.

Practically without sunlight and at 10 km of the confluence, I decided to continue quickly. The path led directly to the point and at 1200 meters, a closed gate looked like the end. I got out of the car and since there wasn’t a padlock, I opened it and entered. Near the confluence, there were a warehouse and some silos, on the way I went asking for permission due to the light darkness. There were no people and then I went directly to the confluence, in the middle of a filed already harvested, probably cultivated with soybean.

As I was taking the pictures, I saw the light of a car at a distance so I hurried to finish my work. I left the property closing the gate and I was very happy with my new conquest.

I crossed Colonia Almada, a typical small town where all houses had doors and windows open and after Oncativo city, Villa Maria-Cordoba Highway and finally Cordoba city for a good sleep.
