30-Oct-2007 -- On the beautiful sunny morning of October, 30th, 2007, we left Fronteira dos Vales at 9 am, toward to Aguas Formosas and the confluence 17 S – 41 W. It was a very pretty region, with splendid cattle farms and coffee plantations. The topography was mountainous and the panorama is quite green, in contrast with the depressing and dry scenery of the Jequitinhonha valley.

This was one of the easiest confluences that we have visited. After running 14 km on a bad dirt road, we fold right and drove about 5 km in a better road to reach the nearest point: it was in the base of a mountain, 240 m of distance to the confluence. At this point, the altitude was of 300 m and we calculate that to reach the CP, we must hike 100 m in a green pasture and then more 200 m thru a dense bush until the top of the hill. For our surprise, after the a easy walks trhu the pasture, we found a cattle track direct to confluence point.. Before reaching the top, we arrived to the CP at 375 m of altitude.

The sight there was fantastic, compensating our effort in arriving there. We registered our presence and went down happy for this visit. Since it was still 10:30 am, we decided to try in the same day, the confluence 18 S - 40 W, in Mucuri, state of Bahia.
