13-Sep-2007 -- After visiting confluence point N46 E107 on previous day, we started driving to Gobi-Ugtaal soum of Dundgobi aimag – located about 39 kms WNW of confluence point N46 E108.

In Gobi Ugtaal we got finally filled our car with fuel and started driving to the next confluence point. Reaching confluence point N46 E108 from the west found to be very complicated as the confluence point lays in the eastern side of two almost parallel mountains called Kharaat and Ikh bor that are covered with black stones with very sharp edges. We have taken every single track that seemed to pass through these low but difficult to drive through mountains and about 10 kms WSW abandoned any attempt to find a road and started driving off-road in true sense.

After two hours of zigzagging and reversing we at last managed to reach the confluence point. The confluence point N46 E108 is located in the southern side of the rolling hills at 1,272 meters ASL exactly in the dry temporary stream bed. Caragana, stipa and iris were the dominant plant community in the area with few salsola and wild onion growing in between. The hill side had sandy gravel soil covered with broken rocks with sharp edge.
