11-Mar-2007 -- Time check was 6 a.m. when we left our resident camp in Abuja. Our aim was to visit the confluence 11N 7E. For the last two years it had been on my mind to visit this Confluence. Checking from the maps, the Confluence is a long distance away from a tarred road and we would have to go a long distance with the enduro bikes on a very bad dirt road. That was the reason why we did not tackle this Confluence much earlier. We where proven wrong as we found out it was an easily accessible Confluence.

We left Abuja and proceeded for Kaduna. Approximately 25 km outside Kaduna, on the expressway to Zaria, we turned off passing the military airport and headed towards Sabon Birni, on a very good tarred new road that terminated at Dogon Dawa. We continued on a tarred road towards the Confluence for approximately 5 km and then we turned off onto a bush road and went always straight till we reached a settlement of a couple of huts where we parked our vehicle. The remaining 300 meters to the Confluence we walked.

It was a very remote place and the villagers warmly welcomed us. They were very amused from our digital cameras and we ended up making a lot of pictures of them. We were shown through the settlement and everyone was just too keen to show us his kraal and family. To avoid disappointing any of them, we visited all the kraals and as I mentioned before made a lot of pictures. Luckily for us it was a small settlement because it was a very hot day. Before lunchtime we had left this place and started the return journey to Abuja.
