21-Jan-2007 -- PAMPA’S CONFLUENCE VIRUS IS EXPANDING WORLDWIDE

Upon a time there was a group of argentine people on Sunday morning at Guelph, Ontario, Canadá. Meanwhile I had having breakfast at the hotel with my working colleagues, I intentionally spoke with them about the confluences and I proposed to go to reach one, near Toronto. Three of them accepted my proposal but I was sure that they thought that I was crazy. It is a common situation before knowing the adventure to catch confluences. After that, they probably would change their viewpoint.

We left the hotel at middle morning; first, we went to Fergus to the northwest and then turned right to the north to Orangeville, the town nearest the confluence 44°N 80°W. Before Orangeville, we stopped at the frozen Bellwood Lake to take pictures of the beautiful landscapes that surrounded it. We walked on the top of the snowed dam where some snow scooters run aside us at fast speed. Downstream river, some fishermen attempted to catch something inside an astounding winter picture.

At Orangeville, we took a coffee on the Canadian “Tim Hortons” and then we went along the 7th Street Road following the Hockley Valley, searching the confluence point.

7th Road led us directly to the confluence and we put the car aside the route at only 44 meters of the confluence and entered into a snowed wood along a small stream in order to attempt to reach all zeros in GPS display.

Really it was impossible to get all zeros due to the closed forest that weakened the GPS signal and to move for adjusting the position was very difficult. Our best effort put us at 29 meters to the DCP. Anyway it was successful visit. We took the obligatory pictures and my colleagues enjoyed with this “strange” activity because they realized that it is the opportunity to know places that are impossible to imagine without the excuse of catching confluences.

I believe that they started to understand my “madness” and probably I have partners for next adventures. There are new three confluence hunters on the Earth.

When we returned to the car, someone saw an odd footprint in the path: really its owner wasn’t a human being, may be a bear. By the way, we quickly went out to the car in order to avoid unnecessary risks.

21-Jan-2007 -- PAMPA EXPANDE POR EL MUNDO EL VIRUS DE LA CONFLUENCE

Dejamos Guelph a media mañana.
