#1: West - there's not much to see out here....

(visited by Marshall Clow and David Kaplan)

25-Nov-2006 -- After our first confluence of the morning (33N/116W) we stopped for a quick lunch in Brawley (carne asada burritos - yum!) and headed out into the Imperial Dunes Off-Road area. This being Thanksgiving weekend, there were more RVs than we could count (several hundred of them - at least!).

After leaving the Dunes, we turned right on a dirt road at 33.015/115.06, and headed southeast for about a mile. Then we left the dirt "road", and headed cross-country directly for the confluence. (Thanks, Dave for driving his Jeep.)

It was pretty comical - Dave driving up a shallow wash, and me looking at the GPS and saying things like "A bit more to the left" and "keep going" and "too far!", and we drove around the confluence a few times before we just gave up, parked and walked the remaining 30 feet. :-)
