24-May-2006 -- 6th confluence out of a trip of 8

Continued from 52°N 7°E

From 52N 07E I covered ca. 100 km via Coesfeld, Münster, and Telgte and came to a village of Milte. It was heavy raining and the wind blew very strong during my journey but fortunately it cleared up and even the sun came out. Following the GPS navigation I drove through the settlement and turned right, into a dirt road lined with birch trees. There were asparagus fields on both sides of the road. Some people were working on the west field, but the east one – where the confluence point lay – was empty.

I parked the car and carefully walking between plants I went ca. 50 m north-east to the confluence. Locating the exact position was fairly easy – the reception of the GPS signal was perfect. After taking pictures towards four points of the compass – please note the wind turbines in the horizon – quite a common view in Germany – I returned to the car and departed towards the west.

Some 200 m further I noticed a stone with a part of a sphere on it, which turned out to be a confluence monument. The inscription on the plate reads: „Findling steht auf dem 52. Breitenkreis und 75.40M westlich vom 8. Meridian. 1981”.

Zaparkowałem samochód i ostrożnie przeszedłem pomiędzy roślinami ok. 50 m.

Meridian. 1981”.
