26-Oct-2006 -- We named this Confluence "Nothing ever goes the way you plan" and this was a last minute decision to visit this quite easy Confluence as an end to our `Īd holiday plans. Our plan originally was to visit the south-west corner of Saudi Arabia, camp a few nights in the desert and then head home. Well, camping permission was not granted and we ended up spending two nights in Riyāḍ.

On our last day of our holidays, we decided we had to salvage something from this long journey and we headed north out of Riyāḍ to hunt for fossils. We found some well preserved clams and other pieces of coral. The weather was not co-operating and it was extremely windy and the sand was blowing everywhere. We got back into the cars and decided to head back home to al-Khubar. We made a circular route via Rumāḥ and near the highway, saw that there was a Confluence a couple of km west of the road. We decided, lets just do it, since we had not accomplished what we had originally planned.

Nearby were many settlements of rough housing and animal pens. Making our way around, we found the Confluence a few meters inside a pen. With curious camels and sheep watching us, we made our way in and took the required photos. At least, we ended our trip with a sense of small accomplishment.
