(visited by George Hinton and Cleto Lugo)

20-Oct-2006 -- For visit number 2 Cleto Lugo and I left Aguililla at 5 am.
We drove through Galeana and then down into Rayones, arriving at Lic. Gerardo de la Fuente's ranch, where we’d start walking, two and a half hours later.
There the altitude is 820 m. It had rained during the night and a dense fog hung in the canyon throughout the day; as a consequence we were soaked a short time after we began our hike. The temperature was 13°C.
We started hiking at 8:30 am and three and a half hours later reached the highest point of our excursion, 1520 m. From having studied Google Earth, I thought the confluence was on the ridge but the GPS told me it was 213 m to the south west; closer to the confluence than I had been able to get to in the first trip (230 m).

It took us over an hour and a half to walk the distance through dense underbrush. We finally made it to a small rocky outcrop and there the GPS told us we were at the confluence. I took some photos and we started back.

It was difficult finding our way in the dense fog, but when we made it back on the ridge the mist withdrew and we were able to see the area of the confluence, the rocky outcrop in the center of photo 1.
We arrived at the pickup at 6 pm and back home to Aguililla at 9 PM.
