- Y ahora? – pregunté.
- Tendría que venir, pero .. – me desanimó.

This crazy trip was not my own idea. In fact, it was an idea that I took from Eduardo Cinícola, of “ Viajeros”, who already made it twice years ago and he delighted me with his eventful journeys. It seems fantastic to me to combine two passions: to hunt confluences and to practice true off road, with the final objective of knowing unthinkable corners of our country accompanied by very good friends.

To catch 10 confluences through an unique trip was something that trapped me and some of my friends. As I always say, to hunt confluences is only an excuse.

Months before, we dated it and we began planning the details and everything was going fine until somebody discovered that our adventure invaded Mother’s Day.

Long negotiations with our wives culminated the previous week with the "permission". Nobody will confess what they had to yield for it and that we all assured ourselves asylum in a friend’s house, just in case.

Then, Pablo Anastasio, his brother-in-law, Leandro and his son ,Matías in his Toyota Hilux ("the Costurera"), Osvaldo Fá and his son Fernando in the Legendary red Vitara, Guillermo Loza and his son Rodrigo in the Montero V6, Federico Krause and his wife Maria Jose in a Cherokee V8 and the one who’s writing, Pampa with Sebastian Calvi (This time Pampa Jr didn`t come, things of Mother’s Day....) in the other Legendary white Vitara, decided to meet up at 7:00 a.m. of Saturday October 14th in Realicó (La Pampa) to initiate the route.

All of us arrived the previous night and we slept in different hotels, after traveling under a torrential heavy rain in the neighborhoods of Realicó, which preannounced some mud for the first confluences.

According to the plan, we left early by the R188 by the west course towards the first confluence. Today shouldn’t have big off road complication in the route but we may have problems with the access permissions, since most of the confluences were in countryside into private fields. The connections would be tiring, since we had many km ahead to try to arrive at Malargüe crossing the Atuel’s Canyon.

We turned aside towards the north by a local road after crossing meridian 65 and a few kilometers ahead a rural gate without padlock introduced to us into a field which name I don’t remember, although there was a sign that said “Leather Lagoon”. I approached to the peasant in the ranchouse with our intentions at only 2 km of the objective. The others remained in the gate waiting for the permission. It seemed that we started bad when he told us that he had no problems but that he needed the landowner’s OK.

- And now? - I asked.
- He should be here, but…. – the peasant discouraged to me.

Meanwhile, Sebastian informed me by the VHF radio that in the gate the landowner had arrived and that Pablo had already convinced him of letting us pass. So we were sent towards the immediate goal, 35ºS 65°O, in the limit between the provinces of La Pampa and Cordoba.

After surrounding some fences, we put our vehicles at about 200 meters of the objective and there walked until we obtained the decimal-less degrees and the respective photos. Mud ? No mud.

This first capture was very easy in order to warm up the motors and to excite the novices.

Our trip continued to the west to the confluence 35ºS 66ºW .
