(visited by Rod Kevill, Sandra Kevill and John Kevill)

30-Sep-2006 -- This was a one day trip out from Newman to attempt two confluence visits. My wife Sandy and I were in one vehicle, while my brother John travelled in another.

Preparation for the trip involved obtaining permits to enter aboriginal land, and a study of Google Earth to determine the best tracks on which to approach the confluences

We headed north from Newman on the Marble Bar road, then turned right following the well maintained gravel road to Jiggalong Mission. About 19km before Jiggalong, we turned north east along a rough overgrown track through Billanooka Station to a point about 4km from the confluence. The country was flat and sandy with sparse spinifex, so we decided to leave one vehicle and drive in with the other. As luck would have it, we were able to drive right to the confluence.

After the usual photos, we drove back to the track and continued north to the intersection with the Talawana Track, then turned west to Balfour Downs station. From the station, we headed north east in an attempt to visit 22°S 121°E. This was unsuccessful as the tracks we were following became very faint, and eventually disappeared under huge spinifex clumps.

We returned to Balfour Downs, then back to Newman, arriving in the late afternoon.
