#1: View to the nort and Willow Road

(visited by Jack Frickey and Cheryl Corrigan)

14-Jun-2006 -- This was the third of three confluences we visited on our way from home in the Washington DC area to a square dance weekend in Cleveland. 41N 82W is just north of I-71 at the OH-83 exit for Burbank and Lodi. You can in fact see the traffic passing on the Interstate while standing at the confluence (Photo #2 to the south). After pulling off the Interstate, we made quick stop at the Wendy’s near the interchange. While there we observed an Amish family nearby where the man was hitching the horse to the buggy and tying a small shelving unit on top of the buggy. As luck would have it, when we turned onto Willow road from Wendy’s, they pulled in right behind us as we waited for the red light. The horse was a bit skittish as he pulled up a little bit too close to us. A short distance later they trotted on by as we turned in to deal with the confluence.

The confluence is just west of a large fueling and parking area for trucks (mostly 18-wheelers). That appeared to be the most logical place to park so we turned in a waited as a driver jockeyed his rig into a space between two other big rigs. We found a space near the far (northwest) corner. To say that my Acura Integra was dwarfed by the red and white CFI truck on the right and equally large 18-wheeler on the other side would be a gross understatement. I easily walked across the grass to the confluence where my GPSr registered all zeros (photo #5); only the last 20 yards had not been mowed. I quickly took the requisite photos; photo #1 to the N and Willow Road, photo #2 mentioned above, photo #3 to the east back toward the truck parking, and photo #4 to the west. I was only out of the car for a few minutes. We then headed north on I-71 to Cleveland for 3 days of heavy duty square dancing.
