18-Sep-2005 -- In terms of the difficult level, 11N 107E is nearly at the bottom of the list and is considered to be the least difficult one among 35 Vietnam confluences. But in terms of the intersting level, we can not say which one is more than the others since each confluence has its own unique taste.

When making plan for that trip, we pay a lot of attention to what to indulge ourselves, where to entertain after visiting that confluence instead of going detailed into how to get to the confluence like the other ones. We all think it is just a weekend picnic. Moreover, 11N 107E is also taken as a training course for new-kids in GPS and visiting-confluence filed.

At 7.00AM, 18th September, we set off from Sai Gon bridge, Ho Chi Minh city. It is a beautiful sunny Sunday. We drop by a big restaurant on Nation Highway 1A to have breakfast. NH 1A is the life-line road, connecting the North and the South, connecting the 2 biggest cities of Vietnam – Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh city. So NH1A has no weekend and is always busy and crowded. Somehow, we do not enjoy travelling on NH1A by motorbikes. But soon, things change when we turn left to the provincial road 767. It is less crowded and, of course, less dust and polluted.

As mentioned above, this time, all of the experts of Vietnam GPS club retire and just play as the followers in this trip. The so-called new-kids play the main parts and pioneer the way. 10kms on Road 767, another left turn leads us on a small countryside path. The experts follow the new-kids. The new-kids follow the guide learned from experts before and the GPS receiver. We start counting down the distance to zero. Without difficulty, we reach 11N 107E. It is in a coffee garden.

And now it is time to indulge ourselves. We come back to road 767 and keep moving to Tri An lake. We enjoy the barbecue in the shadow of a tamarind tree, with fresh air and gentle wind from the lake. It is absolutely relaxing to be close to nature like that. As always, chatting around the table is non-stop and funny. The story drifts from “a dot on the map” to “a G-point on the body”, from “the apples served in the hotels” to “the globalization and its impact”. And, of course, we discuss the next confluence trip. Eventually, we drift from the table to the hammocks to take a nap and probably dream about the next confluence.

That 's the story for 11N 107E - an relaxing confluence. See you, the next confluence.
