06-Nov-2005 --

Adriana todavía no opinaba.

Justo él no sabía.

06-Nov-2005 -- I had as a pending to go with my family hunting confluences. This activity born far away from home and in spite of having a lot of confluences in my account, I had never reached anyone with them.

So, with the excuse to soften my loyal Suzuki’s engine, my wife Adriana, my children Daniela and Pablito, and me went out from our home to the south toward DC 3659.

We passed by Coronel Brandsen, by San Miguel del Monte and before arriving Las Flores by route 3, we turned left to the dusty provincial route 61, which was near the DC 3659 according to our maps and satellital photos.

Some kilometres ahead, we arrived at 450 meters of the confluence: an embankment of an abandoned railroad with high pastures and a small trench with water was interposed between us and our goal: it wasn’t possible to see far away from us.

We left our car aside the road and all of us went up to the railroad embankment: at this moment the opinion of my children was opposite: meanwhile Pablito was amazed with the adventure, Daniela claimed because she had to pass over the pastures instead of going for shopping in the city. My wife was silent.

From the embankment we saw a clean field plenty of cows and some bulls but we needed to cross a fence for entering in it.

Pablito and me came in it; the women weren’t convinced but finally jumped the fence. We walked together 300 meters, as Pablito and me calmed down Daniela because she was afraid the bulls could attack us. By other hand, Adriana was afraid the owner of the field could see us and send us away of his property; she also needed to be calmed. Finally we arrived to the magic point plenty of zeros and they were quiet and happy.

We took some photographs together celebrating the historic moment: The Zerega´s had conquered the first confluence together !!!!!!

We returned to our car and went back to home. A few kilometres ahead we found the picturesque town of Las Rosas around the old and abandoned railroad station. We continued our path parallel to the railroad and we found again other small town: Newton. Both were delightful.

Then we saw a controlled fire appearing in front of us. It’s an habitual procedure for cleaning the pastures on the field. We had to trespass a short but very dense smoke that darkened the sunny afternoon by a moment. Near General Belgrano we took the asphalt road 29 and retuned to home with the successful target reached.

Because it was a family activity, my daughter Daniela wrote her own version:

It was a cool and lazy November Sunday when my father decided that we should go somewhere with the excuse of “soften the Suzuki’s engine”…But I tell you, nobody believed him…He talked about catching a confluence that was I don’t know how many kilometres from home (??) Just him.
Yes, I was taken from my lazyness, from the comfortable armchair in front of the computer, to a place where even the cows are bored….
As you can see I’m just a victim of my father and his madness again. I’ve been exposed to ugly bugs in the middle of the nothing, to extremely low temperatures in the middle of the snowy mountain, and put away from shops and pavement for complete weeks. There are more experiences, but if I continue telling you all of them, you’ll think I need therapy urgently.
Well, let’s go back to our story of the confluence. The first kilometres it was enough to avoid boredom by putting on my headphones and listen to music. But then it got boring too, so I took them off my ears and tried to admire the scenery. It’s such a difficult thing to do once you’ve seen the same landscape for ages…you look through the window and, what do you see?…a cow. And a few metres ahead…oh! Another cow!! Hey, but this is bigger than the first one…Ohh and look! That cow is looking at the other…how amazing…And the trees…When you’re in the middle of the country, there’s such a variety of trees…(I suppose you can see the irony in the sentence…)
Once we arrived to the fantastic place (yes, I’m being ironic again…), we went out of the Suzuki, and started walking to find the confluence. I had to walk among high pastures, or to say it better, I ran among the pastures, because mom kept saying that there could be snakes or bugs or something like that…but even if you don’t believe what I’m going to say, I have a little adventure spirit…It’s not a hobby… but deep inside (Very deep inside) I like doing that kind of things… I denied it because my father don´t like that I didn´t go with him
And after passing through it, we found the abandoned railway. We crossed it, and guess what?…Yes…more damnable pastures. Finally we reached a fence, and entered in a private property. It was funny to see how all the cows and bulls looked at us…But I think the bull didn’t attack us because he thought my brother as one of them and…well…family’s family.
No, talking seriously…it was funny…and then we got closer and closer to the confluence, and at the end, we reached it…Yes, the GPS was full of zeros…and then we went back…and that’s all the journey…Then a few boring towns…and home again!

But, I must admit…the excursion was entertaining after all! It’s an odd way to spend a Sunday with the family. My father is capable to invent these things for joining us.
