01-Jun-2005 -- While vacationing in North Conway I visited several geocaches and USGS benchmarks. I had noticed that I was very close to N44 W71 so on my way to the geocache on Jocky Cap in Fryeburg I decided to visit this confluence. Where I parked my car on Route 302 I was only about 200 meters from the spot and I hiked closer through the woods until I was stopped by the swamp. I did not spend too much time looking for a way around since I saw several wood and dog ticks on me (no deer ticks as far as I could see) and it was starting to rain. The trip to Jocky Cap way successful, as the rain only lasted several minutes. The only thing too bad about that trip was that there was no view due to the weather. Normally the view is fantastic.
P.S. In reading up on confluences it appears that this is the very first location visited officially. I have yet to try to visit any others closer to my home
