17-Jul-2005 -- My dad said that I had to start this narrative different to the other confluences, since this is the third on this trip, from Adelaide to Roper bar and back a different way, making it our fourth in total.
Dad and Mum, (Jenny and Martin), found it while checking the GPS on the laptop was still moving. When Mum saw that we were close to a point. And since we were so close, Dad really wanted to keep going and find it.
We drove off the road onto a flat area, hopefully drawing closer to the confluence point. I can't really remember bits of it but I do remember stopping the car, then walking through pointy bushes and some slippery little creek crossing.
It got to much for us girls after 1.5kms so Mum, my little sister Kaitlin and I stopped at the bottom of a big, rocky, scary hill while Dad went on following the GPS. Dad took what felt like forever, especially with the sun going down. He actually only took 45mins.
Mum went up to the top of the hill and called for him but she couldn't see or him and trust me, she was shouting pretty loud. Kaitlin and I couldn't see or hear her for a while! She eventually came back down and we all headed right down to the bottom and then I heard this noise and looked back and saw Dad.
ARGH! He thought we had seen him from the top but done the Burke & Wills on him! He had actually had to climb 4 hills and he was pooped and we were relieved! We then jogged, (well kind of) back to the car.
This confluence point wasn't the best experience, but hasn't put me or my family off them for ever. It definentley did not ruin the rest of the trip because I had a great time!
