#1: looking south to confluence point

(visited by David Mower)

17-Jun-2005 -- 41N 096W. 17 Jun 2005. The first visitors to this CP quoted the lessee on the topic of change in land use from agricultural to residential. My family and I would be passing close by on our vacation trip. I was curious to see if any change had taken place.

We drove by on Friday the 17th of June, 2005 at about 2:00 PM. Corn was growing, but a “For Sale” sign was also present, evidence of a coming change in land use. We were on a fairly tight schedule so we didn’t taken time to zero out the point. Our closest approach was about 280 meters.

All of our driving had been on the interstate highway, so it was nice to have this little detour on historic Route 66 through South Bend and Louisville and then through LaPlatte on our way back to the freeway. It was a great day! Thanks for getting us out
