28-Jul-2004 -- Although I still do not own a GPS, I decided to search out, using Mapquest screen-shots, some of the many confluences that lie near the route we would be travelling on our vacation in the summer of 2004.
This is the second one I visited. Travelling south on Highway 2, we stopped for a coffee in Innisfail, and - no surprise here - we saw a couple of Mounties in the Tim Hortons coffee shop. As my Mapquest print-out was not fine enough to show the best way to approach the confluence, I asked the Mounties for their help, after explaining my quest as a sort of scavenger hunt. They told me that the east-west road at the confluence is called Cottonwood Road, and to be cautious, because its intersection with Highway 2 was under construction (an underpass being built, I think.) After thanking them for their help, we returned to the highway and drove south.
As they stated, the intersection was under construction, but a dirt roadway had been left for traffic to get through. I parked the car at the intersection of Cottonwood Road (Township Road 352) and Range Road 10, then walked east about 100 meters to be approximately due south of the confluence. As I did not have a GPS, I did not try walking up the hill towards the actual confluence point, but I did take a photo looking at it. After taking a photo west towards the parked car, I took a couple of shots of a circling hawk that I guess had gotten interested in what I was doing.
