#1: There are beautiful mountains around Hornsund

(visited by Steinar Midtskogen)

21-Jul-2000 -- This visit was incomplete as I'm not sure how close to the point I was, it might have been up to 1500 metres away. Anyway, the point is in the ocean and the view is hardly any different whether it is from the true point or a kilometer south of it. The photographs were taken looking south, where the most spectacular mountains are. The highest peak is Hornsundtind, reaching 1431 m.

Hornsund is my favourite place in Svalbard. It's a rarely visited gem.
