02-Jun-2007 -- Even if Norway is known as a country with deep fjords and high mountains, some confluence points are surprisingly easy to reach. 68°N 16°E is one of them, located only about 800m from the highway E6, the main highway which traverses the entire country from the Swedish border in the south to the Russian border in the north-east.
I could make the confluence visit together with my father since I spent the weekend with my parents in the northern part of Norway. When I passed the point in previous years, by bicycle or bus, I didn't know about it or couldn't reach it since public-transport doesn't offer the possibility for a short stop...
When I reached the confluence area with my parents, we found a parking spot for the car and discovered a path which was leading from the E6 in the direction of the confluence. From the E6, we had 800m left. Following the path along a really nice lake and up the hill, we reduced the distance to the point to 170m! The last few meters were a nice walk through the forest, finding the exact point on a little hill with a beautiful view towards the mountains in the south.
During the time we spent at the confluence and on the way back, we had to fight a bit against many crane flies, which were obviously interested in our blood... Nevertheless, we had a really nice confluence visit, an easy walk and all that with the beautiful summer sun in the beginning of June. This trip was the first one to a confluence for my father and it looked like he likes it!
