During a two week road-trip through Iceland, together with a friend, I took the chance to visit the some confluence points.

After visiting the capital Reykjavik, we came from the north via the street Reykjanesbraut. This road was the one of Iceland's less Autobahn-like streets, found only near and in Reykjavik. We took the exit to the road 42 Krýsuvíkurvegur, which heads south. After less than eight kilometres we reached a parking place for the set off on foot to the confluence point 64°N-22°W. In the beginning we could use a dirt road for about 200 m. After crossing a small hiking trail all we had do was following the direction WNW, given by the GPS. It is recommended to visit this confluence in good daylight only, because of some dangerous crevices. After a route of around 2.6 km and some elevations, with up to 10 m difference of height, we reached the closer location of the confluence. The entire area to be crossed lies on a huge lava field. Thick layers of moss and small ground cover characterized the landscape. Only in the picture to the west you can see a part of a broken lava cave. The basalt-like formation can be seen on the burst line of this cave and also in picture 08. At the exact location of the confluence point 64°N-22°W I could take the needed images. From a hill top, only a view meters away, you can see the western parts of Reykjavík. After the same route back to the car, this visit was done. Our Trip on Iceland ended the next day.

This was my twelfth and last visit of a confluence point during a trip through Iceland. Next to the sportive activities, these visits gave me an enormous additional and detailed insight into the beautiful landscape of Iceland!
