Russian Narrative

30-Jul-2006 -- Having purchased a BT-338 Bluetooth GPS-navigator connected to my Nokia 6630 smartphone, I decided to try navigation on the open country. I read about this project a couple of years ago, and now, having everything we need we could take part in it. The point chosen was the closest one to the city: as it appeared afterwards it was one of the most difficult ones.

We used the Ozi Explorer for routing and hit the trail at 5 a.m. on Sunday. Having happily driven to the last village called Osharash we made a turn to the forest. Approximately 500 m were still motored but then we got to a great pool; the car used was Vaz 2110 that’s why we had to go further on foot. The navigator was showing 8.5 km on the straight. We’d been going along the forest road almost 3 hours at that the last 300 m were got over through the windbreak and dry bog.

It took much time to fix all the zeros, the last figures got to be nines. Moreover, when I tried to make photos the camera battery proved to run down despite the fact that it had been charged all through the night (as it appeared afterwards, there was a poor contact). So, I had nothing left to do but shoot with another phone that’s why the pctures are badly seen on the screen; besides, I made screenshots from the smartphone display. On fixing the point, we decided to reach the Kouba village and have a snack there. The village itself exhibited 2 houses and a grass-grown glade on the Yuronga river bank. On that very site we gathered mushrooms, a packet for each. The return trip took even more time because of the corns (we were wearing waders). The total foot-walk got to be approximately 25 km. I’ll never go on foot there, jeep only.
