12-Jul-2024 -- On a week-long trip to Ireland I was able to visit three confluence points.
This first confluence point 52°N 9°W, is located in the county Cork, southwest of Ireland. We came from the west, Killarney, left the N72 in Rathmore, passed Millstreet and took the road L2758 direction south west. At a junction, which is located about 4 km beeline north of the CP, there was a stone with the inscription "St. Johns Well 1 Mile". We had a break at this well. During our rest, a pickup truck came and the two inmates took some gallons of well water. From here it was only one more kilometre until we reached the correct turnoff to the southwest on a small road. Here I took the photo of the two Irish confluence sheep at the side of the road. 900 meters later I found a good parking place in front of a pasture gate. From here it was a 500 m walk with a difference of height of 120 m, meaning it will be a quite steep attempt. But it was dry and a stable grass covered ground. So I soon reached the closer vicinity of the CP. The CP 52°N 9°W is located on the south western mountainside of the "Musherabeg" with a good out view through a valley direction north and to the south east. Soon I have taken my pictures of the location and the coordinates 52°N 9°W. After a total of 30 minutes walk, my visit was successfully completed.
In good weather conditions, which means it was cloudy but not rainy, I was able to make my first confluence visit in Ireland.
