(visited by Tom)

14-Jul-2001 -- This confluence began as a driving trip of 300 miles one way to the Glacier Peak Wilderness. The trek in started as a backpack because I examined the map and figured it would require a bushwack of about a mile off the trail, but I had to gain 2000 feet in elevation. However, I lucked out as when I got to the off trail spot there was an obscure trail running up to Airplane Lake, which was at the top of the mountain. Even with the trail it took me two hours to climb out of the valley. It was a very tiring climb up the mountain. I spent an hour trying to narrow down the location, but the steep and wooded area made it very difficult. I settled on N 48 0.000 W 120 59.999. The glaciated mountains I could see across the valley are of Mt. David (7420 feet) on the left and Mt. Jonathan (7165 feet).
