03-Feb-2002 -- I've been looking at this confluence for three years, now and finally decided that this would be the year. I had originally thought that the confluence would be around 4 miles round trip through thick terrain that would challenge our resolve, but further study showed a forest service road that would take us to within 1/2 mile of our goal.
We set out on a somewhat cool morning (10 deg F), found the forest service road with no problems, and drove it until it was time to set out on foot. It was easy walking through less than a foot of snow and had some nice sights along the way. It's usually off the beaten path that one sees nature at its finest. It turned out to be .37 miles to the confluence so we were there before we knew it. The only problem we had was the cold weather sapping the strength of the camera's batteries.
