#1: The confluence point lies in grassy farmland, just 0.3 miles north of a paved road

(visited by Ross Finlayson)

12-Jun-2014 -- Driving south on I-15 from Butte, Montana, I made a short detour to visit this easy confluence point, which lies just 0.3 miles north of a paved road. Shortly after leaving I-15 (at Clark Canyon Reservoir), I saw a sign noting the "45th Parallel - halfway between the Equator and North Pole". When I passed just south of the confluence points, I didn't see any of the "No Trespassing" signs noted by the first (attempted) visitor, so I hiked in discretely via the farm gate that's just to the south-southwest (0.35 miles) of the point. Knowing that I'd need to cross a creek en route, I continued north along the farm road until it crossed the creek, then hiked eastward through long grass until I reached the confluence point. Much of the grassland here - though not at the confluence point itself - was waterlogged and boggy, so I was surrounded by ravenous mosquitoes! Fortunately, though, being in a wide open space, with excellent satellite coverage, I didn't have to walk around for long before I got 'all zeros'.
