#1: General View to confluence – North West

(visited by Hans Augdoppler)

06-Jun-2005 -- From the city of “Smederevo” I started my exploration trip. After reaching Kragujevac I turned into direction CP, to the east into the hills. As I came to an intersection as close as 1.7 km [43°59.2266m N, 20°59.3028m E, I decided to take the better road which was actually the wrong choice. A full circle around the hilly massive was necessary to find out that the original access was the only way just turn to the left, to north east.

Through the village of Jabucje I chose the NW-exit, passed the cemetery and than due to the rainy weather the road became so muddy that I decided to park the car and to start with hiking. Unfortunately my outfit was not suitable to cross the trench like tractor tracks full of nettles. So I had to make several by-passes and still had some problems the thorny vegetation. Some parts are not cultivated anymore. As I reached the CP with scratches all over it started raining and I had some difficulties to take the photographs and to keep the camera somehow dry.

Uphill towards NW I could see the abandoned farmhouse as mentioned by the predecessors. From there I was able to reach the muddy road on the ridge. While walking back I noticed two goals in the midst of a grain field [pic7.jpg]. Most likely it was a former soccer field of the village.

At the nearby cemetery I saw two men and a woman doing some maintenance work. So I met MOMIR, his brother & wife and they showed some old gravestones from 18th century as well as from their parents. When I tried to turn around my car I got stuck in the wet meadow. With help of the friendly brothers I got rid of this incident. A subsequent invitation to join them for a glass of slivovitz I was not able to reject.

I was guided to the farmhouse of MOMIR nearby and was able to change my wet cloth. Some glasses of house made slivovitz, a cup of coffee and a tasty, typical snack were served. After one and a half hour I had difficulties to leave these tremendous hospitable people – Many Thanks to them – it was a great experience.
