This is the second line hunting trip of Rainer Bartoschewitz

After visiting my first confluence point 44°N 126°E I planned my second project for the next day to visit 44°N 125°E. It is very close to the village Shaoguo, about 30 km NW of Changchun.

On October 23rd, 2005, I tried to find a bus from the center of Changchun to Shaoguo, but I had to spend much time without success. So I asked again the concierge of the hotel to explain a taxi driver where I want to go, that he should wait there for me for one hour and return me back to the hotel. A price was quickly fixed and we could start at about 10:30 a.m.

Some minutes later the driver asked by mobile phone somebody for the way to Shaoguo. Surprisingly the driver followed the Changchun Dajie Street in NE direction and crossed the Yitong He (river). I thought he took that way due to traffic jam information, but when we reached Harbin-Jilin junction, I tried to tell him that we are driving in the wrong direction, we had to go in the direction of Changling! He phoned again, turned back the car, and drove on the Changchun Ring. Now we had to drive half around Changchun and stuck in a traffic jam. At 11:30 a.m. we reached the junction to Changling and could drive in straight direction to the confluence point on a very good road. We passed Shaogou, left the Road “S 106” 750 m NNE of the point, turned in a dirty way in south direction, after about 400 m we turned in another dirty way in west direction, and stopped the car surrounded by harvested corn fields just 200 m north of my target. I left the taxi and went to my second confluence point!

I arrived the confluence point at about 12 a.m. It is located 800 m north of Shaogou’s main road and 750 m SSW of the Road S 106 to Changli in the middle of a corn field.

The way back to my hotel in Changchun took 30 minutes.
