(visited by Ross Finlayson)

03-Aug-2022 -- After my failed attempt to visit [44,-74] earlier in the day, I spent a couple of hours driving southwest along rustic rural roads, ending up on frontage roads next to Interstate 90. Arriving at the small, scenic town of Mohawk, I wanted to avoid the private property to the north and northeast of the point, so I drove along Shoemaker Road, which climbs a hill, running east of the point.

I walked south on Shoemaker Road until I hit exactly 43 degrees North, then hiked up a short way up a driveway, then ‘bushwhacked’ the rest of the way. For such a short hike, this was quite unpleasant, as I had to walk through some very long grass (up to 6 feet tall!), with frequent brambles (blackberries) that scratched my legs. (I had foolishly chosen not to wear long pants.)

But, yet again, it wasn’t until my return hike that I discovered that I had chosen the wrong route. Note to future visitors: There's an old road cut, starting at [43.00116,-74.99716], that will take you almost all the way, with relatively little bushwhacking required.

Here is a remote-controlled aerial video of this confluence point.
