23-Dec-2022 -- Vorher: 44°N 11°E.

23-Dec-2022 -- Before: 44°N 11°E.

First we wanted to go to an outdoor hot spring. But we realize that it is better to drive south on the fast road along the coast and to drive to the next confluence point first.

It is located behind a large private estate. The gate was video monitored, it didn't look like anyone was there.

We drive onto a gateway to another private estate and park by a creek. Then we follow it between the properties over soft earth to the edge of a piece of forest overgrown with brushwood. From here it is about 120 meters to the CP, which is located at the upper edge.

We fight our way through the thorny undergrowth. It is more than exhausting and also very warm. About 25 meters before the CP our ways separate, everyone thinks he comes easier to the goal. So, we approach the zero in the sea of thorns from two sides.

The zeros are not easy to get.

We consult about the way back and decide to look for the end of the forest further up and then to descend again the slope. When we finally reach an open area with olive trees it is easier. But there is also no sign of a path through the undergrowth behind the wall towards the parking lot. At the very end there is a path. It leads to an entrance closed by a gate. The track that starts there goes in the complete opposite direction.

Another marked trail leads down to a fence. We do not dare to cross it. We follow the arrows to a path over a stream - to an insurmountable fence. We follow the other path further to a bridge with a passable road that divides to two properties.

A courier car is coming. The driver says we have to go the other way and walk around the property. That is too far for us. We try between the two properties. Again we reach an open area with olive trees bordering impenetrable bushes or a high steel fence. We go back and are desperate when we suddenly see a man. We call out and he leads us through gates across the first plot in our direction. We bypass the next property in an arc across fields and reach our car just before sunset.

For about 830 m linear distance there and back we were finally on the road for almost 2 ½ hours.

We continue to the warm springs at Bagini San Filippo, where we spend the night and enjoy an extensively warm bath on Christmas morning.

The next confluence point is visited by Hansen alone, Richard was already there.
