09-Apr-2005 -- Our mission is 2 CP points, 42N 117E and 42N 118E. These 2 points is the last 2 point of Heibei that nobody have ever visited. Before the trip, we made a project, and use “All China Map" arrange driving route, ZULU 2000 (lanssat 7 from NASA) satellite map and Globe Mapper software with SRTM data analyzed aim point's 3D landform, so we could find the best way to approach the point. 42N 117E is much difficult than 42N 118E, since it's on the on the mountain ridge.

April 9th, 1 p.m., After we finished the first point , we drove to the second point 42N 117E. There is a small village called Shang Laowopu near the point. We spent about 3 hours on the way, road condition is very good. But the last 16km road was covered by snow and mud, we even need 4WD to pass.

4 PM,we arrived Shang Laowopu. There a river we can’t dirve closer,so we have to walk further. 4 of us, me(jackal), woodhead , nelson and WLF went and others stay at the village. We walked near through the river about 3km, then planed to find a valley to go in then climb to the point. But we could not make sure where is the correct valley.

5 PM, We got to the 1km straight distance to the point, and began to ascend. For the heavy snow yesterday and the bushy shrub, it was very difficult go ahead. WLF left our team and back to base camp.

6:40 PM we got the ridge, Nelson and me have a little rest. Woodhead is in front of us. The last 100m was awful, hillside is very craggedness, and snow got wet our shoes. 7 PM I heard a voice from woodhead “Wo Dao Le!(I got the point)”,he was about 10m from me, I could see him through shrub. We are so excited! After taking pictures we went back. The sky was almost dark.

8PM, we were back to the base camp Shang Laowopu.
