15-Jun-2019 – Continued after 41°N 6°W.

We entered Portugal from Spain from the side of Salamanca city via Vilar Formoso, because I wanted to buy EasyTall (electronic toll payment in Portugal), so we were driving to the confluence zone from the south along roads N221 and N332. Having meandered in the highlands, I managed to park at the spot 41°0.63'N 6°59.58'W, from where it was 1300 meters in a straight line to our goal.

It was windy, sunny and cool. The thermometer in the car showed only +21°C. We left our wives, and ourselves went to the confluence. At first we tried to follow a road, but soon we parted, we had to take to the right and go down to the stream. I had to circle a little, choosing a not very steep slope. When we reached the stream (we dropped more than 100 m in height), it turned out that we can’t cross it any place. The matter was not in the water (the stream was dry), but in the fact that its channel is filled with a terribly thorny and dense shrub. We had to choose a place where this "barbed wall" has the smallest thickness.

After the stream it was necessary to go up (almost 80 meters in height). It was not very simple. Firstly, the climb was quite steep, secondly, we hiked under the scorching sun, thirdly, we did not see each other, because the slope was covered with rather high vegetation. It was also not easy to navigate. But finally we reached the exact spot. Gazes towards northeast, east, southeast, south and partially to the southwest rested to bushes above human growth. Views to other directions were more picturesque.

We have already adjusted the way back, it was with a steeper rise, but shorter. Along the way, we met a building, whose age we could not determine, it could be years and tens of years or more! When we came back to the car, the thermometer in it was already showing +35°C. Our wives were suffering the heat, since there was nowhere to hide from it.

I note that after this, in general, a short hike in the Portugal mountains, until August I was pulling out spiky thorns and seeds of strange plants from my sneakers.
