#1: View North

(visited by Ross Finlayson)

22-Aug-2016 -- I first attempted to visit this point in May 2009, but at that time the steep road that climbs up from the town of Soldier Summit was blocked (near the top) by snow and a downed tree. This time - later in the season - I was luckier. The road was open (but still somewhat scary to drive, as it’s narrow, with a steep drop-off to the side).

Once on the ridgeline, I turned left (northwards) and continued along the dirt road that runs along the ridge, at around 9000' elevation. This road passes just 0.2 miles to the east of the point, leaving an easy hike along ATV tracks, which took me almost all the way. The point itself lies in a clearing, on a slight slope. This is a scenic point, with a nice vista down the hill to the west.

Here is a remote-controlled aerial video of this confluence point.
