10-Sep-2004 -- Continued from 41N 39E.
In September 2004 Cenci and I decided to visit 40N 40E in eastern Anatolia. We started by car in Hamburg and drove through the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Serbia/Montenegro and Bulgaria. After a 3500 km ride we finally reached 40N 40E, but on our way we took the chance to visit some other DCPs in Turkey, too.
Since we did not have a quality map of the area we did not know exactly what to expect from 40N 40E - but we were very determined and prepared for days of hiking and nights outdoor. Unfortunately, reaching the point was rather easy. Though it's a remote place, a gravel road passes by just a kilometre away. The point is situated in a dry but very beautiful setting on the slope of a hill overlooking a peaceful valley. At an altitude of almost 2000 meters it was cold and very windy, but we enjoyed the place so much that we stayed over night and spend another day climbing some of the mountains nearby.
