  38°N 121°W (visit #16)

#1: The confluence point lies just inside this farm fence, next to the Escalon-Bellota Road

(visited by Ross Finlayson)

01-Nov-2017 -- I had visited this Degree Confluence Point twice before (including the very first visit, more than 18 years ago), but I decided to take advantage of a beautiful California Autumn day to visit it one more time, to get a drone’s-eye view of the point.

The point itself hasn’t changed at all in 18 years; it lies just inside a farm fence, beside the Escalon-Bellota road (which - probably not coincidentally - runs north-south along the 121 Degree West line of longitude). More interesting has been to witness the evolution of the farmhouse and shed that’s across the road (i.e., just west of the point). When I first saw it, in October 1999, it looked old and run down. Since then, it has been repainted at least twice, and in 2005-2006 was extensively renovated (and the shed was either renovated also, or completely replaced - I’m not sure). However, since 2010, the house doesn’t seem to have changed much.

Here is a remote-controlled aerial video of this confluence point.
