  38°N 115°W (visit #4)

#1: The confluence point lies amidst desert sagebrush (like so many other confluence points in Nevada)

(visited by Ross Finlayson)

19-Sep-2010 -- As with my visit earlier in the day to [38,-116], this was the first recorded visit to this confluence point in more than 7 years. Unfortunately, the trip to this confluence point was more interesting than the point itself, as it lies amidst rather bland desert sagebrush.

This confluence point lies 2 miles West of Nevada Highway 318. However, as previous visitors noted, there's a narrow, 4WD dirt road that takes you directly to the point. The entrance to this dirt road is somewhat hard to find, but - as Shawn Fleming noted - it's at almost exactly 38 degrees North (more precisely, [38.00016,-114.96357]).

There's a barbed-wire gate at the entrance to the dirt road, which starts out running along a narrow ridge top. In my 4WD SUV, I could take the dirt road to within 100 yards of the confluence point.
