21-May-2018 -- I had mixed feelings about visiting this Degree Confluence Point. On the one hand, it was a ‘forgotten’ point - last visited more than 17 years ago, in January 2001 - so I felt that it should be revisited. On the other hand, I suspected that because the point lay within forest, it would be rather boring. And truth be told, the point itself was rather boring. However, the hike to the point was more interesting than I’d initially suspected.

It seems that the previous visitors approached the point from the south (from the farm house). However, after examining satellite imagery, I decided instead to start from the north-east: from 37.00506°N 86.98631°W. This would give me an initial hike of about 0.5 miles across a farm field, followed by a hike of 0.35 miles through forest.

To my surprise, when I got to this starting point, I found a creek running alongside the road, in front of the farm field. Fortunately, however, the creek was only ankle deep, so it was easy to cross. However, many parts of the farm field were boggy from recent rains, so it wasn’t quite as easy to cross as I’d initially thought.

On the other hand, the hike through the forest to get to the point was much easier than I’d feared. The vegetation was thinly-spaced, leading to an easy hike through the woods. The point itself lay in a nondescript part of the forest, just after crossing a small ridge.
