#1: The confluence point lies just 350 feet from a highway. (This is also a view to the East, towards the highway.)

(visited by Ross Finlayson)

12-Jul-2023 -- My final visit to a Degree Confluence Point during this tour of the Western U.S. was to this point - probably the easiest point in Colorado, as it’s only about 350 feet from a highway, in flat desert terrain. The most difficult part of reaching the point was climbing over the tricky fence that lines the highway. The point is also just North of the New Mexico-Colorado state line, which suggests that the state line was laid out to follow the 37 Degrees North line of latitude, and that the highway was laid out to follow the 106 Degrees West line of longitude - both with an older datum than WGS84. This point reminds me a lot of [38,-113] near Cedar City, Utah; that point also lies just West of a highway, and in very similar terrain.

Unfortunately my drone’s video recording capability was malfunctioning, so this time I didn’t get an aerial video of the point; just aerial photos.
