#1: The confluence point lies in thinly forested terrain, on a slope. It is close to the natural indentation visible in the foreground.

(visited by Ross Finlayson)

19-Apr-2011 -- From satellite maps, I could see that there were houses just to the south of the confluence point, so to avoid them, I decided to approach the point from the west, starting from Brook Run Drive - a street shown on the maps.

It turned out that "Brook Run Drive" is nothing more than a double-track farm road, but nonetheless I was able to drive along it, and park at exactly 37 degrees north. At this point, I was about 0.4 miles west of the confluence point.

Reaching the confluence point involved an easy hike over gently sloping terrain, up the side of a ridge. The high point of the ridge occurs shortly before the confluence point, which lies on a southeast-facing slope. Also, about 100 feet from the confluence point, I had to step over a barbed wire fence, which suggests that the point may be just inside a property line.

Because of the sloping, forested terrain, the 'confluence dance' to get 'all zeros' was quite difficult, but after about 1/2 hour of trying, I finally got it.
