(visited by Ross Finlayson)

13-Apr-2024 -- I began my return drive to California from northwestern Arkansas by making a detour off Interstate 40 in Oklahoma, to visit two easy Degree Confluence Points just to the South. Leaving the freeway at Chicotah, I drove Southwards on US Highway 69 across scenic Lake Eufaula to the town of McAlester, then West and North to reach this Degree Confluence Point, which lies directly on a West-to-East rural gravel road - the oddly-named “Bucklucksy Road”. Just to the West, at the intersection with the (slightly less oddly-named) “Cabines Road”, there’s a small petroleum processing facility - something that (I’ve now learned) is common in this part of the U.S.

During my visit, a local family - walking along Cabines Road - noticed my California license plates, and was curious about what had brought me here. I explained to them the significance of the point just to their East.

Once again, it was extremely windy during my visit, so I wasn’t able to fly my drone very far. Here is a remote-controlled aerial video of this confluence point.
