19-Feb-2001 -- This is the fourth confluence of the day for me. I got as close as I could get to it in my truck and had to hike the rest of the way through some seriously nasty brush. I got pretty scratched up by thorns along the way, not to mention muddy from slipping down once. This was by far the most difficult confluence I've done. I didn't find the spot until just before the sun went down. Whew! Barely made it.

After taking the photos I headed back through the woods and briar thickets in the dwindling daylight. I got a few more scratches and some thorns that I had to remove later. Other than that, it was a pretty uneventful confluence visit and I was exhausted. A few miles away I passed by The Little Red Schoolhouse. It was the birthplace of the Order of the Eastern Star, founded by Dr. Rob Morris in 1849 while he was serving as the first principal of the school.

This was a long day. I can't believe I actually made it to four confluences. I wish some of the places had been more scenic, but I guess that’s the nature of the project. I have lots of photos on my website at www.dannoland.com and on www.artgaga.com. Check them out if you have time. I plan on visiting many more confluences and look forward to writing about things I see along the way. -- Danny Strickland
