05-Apr-2024 -- After spending a night in the apocalyptic petroleum hellscape of Midland, Texas, I wanted to reward myself the next morning by visiting its nearby Degree Confluence Point - surprisingly, unvisited in almost 10 years. After parking on the side of the busy highway 307 that passes about 0.2 miles North of the point, my biggest challenge was finding a place to cross the tall, difficult-to-climb fences that lay between the highway and the point. I finally found a narrow gap between the fences at [32.00086,-102.00243], and managed to squeeze myself through. From there, it was an easy walk across a flat, grassy field, with some prairie dog holes. I heard prairie dogs call out as I approached, but unfortunately they all disappeared down their holes before I could photograph them. The point lies in the field, with a petroleum processing facility just to the South.

Unfortunately it was very windy during my visit, and I didn’t feel it was safe to launch my drone to get an aerial view.
