29-Jun-2008 -- This is the 33rd of a series of 83 confluence visits during our voyage from Nigeria to Europe and back to Nigeria around the entire African continent. It all started on 28 January at 11N 5E.
Story continues from 31N 7W.
The day before yesterday we stayed at Agdz at a nice camping site, visited the "Vallée du Drâa" and continued to Tazzarine and further to Alfni. At Alfni we spent the night. The next morning we got up early and went along the road leading to Rissani till we found the turnoff to Fezzou and followed this road to Fezzou. Outside Fezzou, a bit over 10 kilometres away from the Confluence, we found a track leading in the direction of the Confluence; this track unfortunately ended somewhere in the hills. We drove a few kilometres back and continued cross-country, hopping over boulders till we found another track. This track ended in a Oued. We drove again back and went cross-country and found this time the track that lead us as close as 150 meters to the Confluence.
The track stops there, someone is mining there and that is the sole reason why there was this track. We spend some time at this isolated place before we started the return journey following the track.
We got to the main road just before Fezzou (GPS coordinates 30°57.745'N 4°54.314'W, presently there is road construction and no turnoff is visible, therefore the coordinates are taken 100 meters next to the road).
