#1: View of motorcycle within meters of confluence

(visited by Tom Grenon)

20-May-2002 -- From the information gathered on my topo map the area around this confluence would probably allow us to ride our dual-sport motorcycles very close to if not right to the confluence point.

Starting from the comfort of our B&B in San Ignacio, we gassed up and watered down before heading southwest out of town on what may be the worlds worst wash-board dirt road in the direction of Laguna San Ignacio. At about 22.5 miles we turned left onto a minor track heading almost directly south. The road (Photo #6) had several wash outs but did remain in fairly solid condition most of the approximately 3 miles it took before having to leave the road and ride overland in a northwesterly direction. The ground at that point was comprised of mostly flat red coloured rock (Photo #3)that made for easy passage with only a short down hill slope (Photo #4) into the firm sandy soil that surrounded the confluence point.

The area is open to public use with no fencing and maybe only light seasonal cattle grazing. The plant life consisted of mostly cactus, presenting the very real danger of tire punctures and body injury if accidentally brushed against while riding by (Photos #5 & #7).
