08-Jun-2013 -- Though we didn’t foresee any future to reach the confluence point but excitement, motivation by our friends and the trust of our family to complete the confluence project enabled us to take the leap of faith.
Ignoring drizzling weather, the heavy traffic and by suppressing the uncertainty of not reaching an unknown place; we started towards our dream a day in advance. The confluence point is in Sherpur district which is around 200 Km north of Dhaka city. Four of us started at 5 pm in the afternoon by a direct bus from Dhaka to Sherpur. The journey was of approximately 7 hours and we reached the destination at around 12 am in the night. Being late and as decided earlier we stayed in one of our relative’s house and couldn’t wait to see the next sunrise.
Next morning we started for the confluence point by auto-rickshaw to travel a distance of 22 Km away from the main city. After one and half hour we reached a bridge by the river Sheri. Reaching the bridge we were a bit lost and we knew that asking local people won’t do any good to us because according to Google map the place is in middle of a paddy field. Instead of asking anyone we took help of goggle map and started to walk and went on walking for 3 hours. We balanced through the paddy fields and the day was sunny keeping the sun right above our head. After that we had to ride a boat as a river had to be crossed. Hence we rode for 4 more hours and also minimized the walking distance. At last after 7 hours exactly at 16:05 we reached the dream point of confluence project. The point was found to be in a small pond and had to walk down the water a bit to find the degree confluence of 250N & 900E.
We thank the local people, our friends and the confluence project as it motivated us to reach beyond the well-traveled roads and explore the unknown.
