21-Feb-2002 -- We had already planned this small trip in the desert followed by a visit to some of our friends in Abū Ẓaby when I discovered this website. Lise and I were very excited looking at our maps of Saudi Arabia and discovering that we could visit a few confluence points during our trip.

We left al-Ẓahrān at 8:00 in the morning and we reached this first confluence point at 11:10. Relatively easy access, at only 6 km from the road. This road is the one that goes from Hufūf to the United Arab Emirates, passing very near Qaṭar.

It is an even landscape with dunes of white sand. We had lunch on the site and we had the visit of a Bedouin driving a Toyota pick-up truck. He was following his herd of camels that were grazing a little further away. There are so many of these animals around here that the drivers must be very careful on the roads, and we can see those road signs everywhere.

At 11:45 we left the site, on our way to the 24N 51E confluence point, where we plan to camp tonight.
